Oughtabealaw, a.k.a. lawyers' heartbreak song

Last meeting, the OLA Director mentioned that as law students, we should aspire to be like French bread -- hard and crusty on the outside and soft (and yummy?) on the inside. I forgot what the context was, but I think it's got something to do with standing firm but staying kind.

Lawyers have been generally regarded as heartless creatures who don't give a flying fuck about how others may feel, as long as they think (they almost always do) that they are on the side of the law. Wherever that is. So I was pleasantly surprised to find a song that is lawyerly yet emo. *tear*

You know just what the charge would be
It's heartbreaking in the first degree
That hurts like any felony
And how would you plead?

This calls for an amendment of the Revised Penal Code. Seriously.
